Andrew Ahn is a queer Korean American filmmaker born and raised in Los Angeles. His feature DRIVEWAYS premiered at the 2019 Berlinale and was nominated for two Film Independent Spirit Awards. His first feature SPA NIGHT premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and went on to win the John Cassavetes Film Independent Spirit Award. Ahn has directed fiction and documentary television for Sundance Channel, Netflix, FX, HBO Max, CBS, and KCET. He has promoted diversity in the arts by mentoring youth filmmakers through programs like Pacific Arts Movement’s Reel Voices, Outfest’s OutSet, and the Sundance Institute’s Native Filmmaker Lab. He graduated from Brown University and received an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).
Ju Hui Judy Han is a cultural geographer and Assistant Professor in Gender Studies at UCLA, where she teaches classes on gender and sexuality, Korean studies, (im)mobilities, and comics. Her research and publications concern conservative religious formations, queer activism, and protest cultures. Judy grew up in Seoul and has lived and worked in Los Angeles, Berkeley/Oakland, Vancouver, and Toronto.
